We have discovered an excellent plug-in for your web browser. It is called WOT or Web Of Trust.
This is a plug-in for your web browser that significantly reduces the chances of ending up on a site that is not good for you or your computer.
The way it works is by using customer rating techniques to decide if a site is trustworthy or not. It ranks trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy and child safety.The software can be run in several modes including normal, low interaction and child safety. In low interaction it only shows sites that have a bad reputation so any site that is ok does not even interfere with your browsing. In Normal mode it shows the rating of every site regardless of whether it is good or bad. In Child safety mode if a website is deemed bad it will completely block that site and prevent it from being opened, the down side of child safety mode it does add a small delay in browsing but that is barely noticeable. We have been running it in child safety mode here in our office and found it to be most helpful.
We highly recommend the software for everyone. It can be downloaded from www.mywot.com and is completely free, however if you register for free you can also rate sites that you have visited.
